Submission Guidelines

The Digital Parents Blogazine is open to all Australian based blogging parents who want to contribute. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Join DigitalParents and place our funky button on your blog. (Help us spread the awesomeness!)

2. Pick a category and send through your content in Word or HTML format to maria@digitalparentsblog.com.au. Entries should be a maximum of 400 words except for the My Blog My Story category entries (that one can be up to 800 words).

3. Send photos with your submission (with link to credit if necessary). The photo must be high quality enough that it can be featured on our slider (over 1MB, 100dpi and above, over 1500px in width).

4. Send a link back to your blog with a little bio (under 30 words) at the end of your content. And a 125×125 avatar.

Contributions will be edited to meet the blogazine’s standards.

That’s it. And please, do not fret if we don’t publish your submission. There’s always a next time.

The Little Niggles:

Like any other job, we want to do a test drive of your skills first. Please send through one entry of your choice of category that we can use for the blogazine for free. If your submission has already been published in your blog, that’s okay too. We can still use it and freshen it up for the blogazine with your link and avatar at the end of the post. It’s a great way to promote your blog! After that, your next contribution will be a paid one, but it will have to be original content. We will only be sending the Standard Contractor’s Agreement to writers whose original article (including original sample article) has been chosen for publication. We will let you know if your article has been chosen and when it will be coming out.

Our Categories:

Blogging Tips n Tricks – Tell us your blogging advice for other bloggers out there. There’s no better way to know how to do things than when you try them yourself.

Digital Parenting – Tell us about your experiences as a digital parent and the things you do to protect your kids from the harmful things online. Tell us how you police/limit your children’s use of the digital world (this includes everything from phones, to TV, to computer, Xbox etc).

Featured articles – This can be any topic you feel like writing as long as it’s kickass! No pressure, right?

My Blog My Story – This is your space, your chance to tell us the beginnings of your blog. Why did you start one? How long have you been blogging? Tell us your blogging experience and tell us about you.

Vlog – This will be a vlog about your opinion on the topics that Lori will raise on the blogazine. We will let you know the topics through our DP newsletter.

Tech Speak – This category is about the technical side of blogging. Maybe some How Tos, some What not to dos, the difference between technologies, among other things.

Your Say – This category is about your opinions on any international, national or local current issues that makes you either grind your teeth in anger or clap your hands in glee.

Get featured on our slider!

There’s really no guideline we can give you on how to get featured on our slider. Basically, you have to have a kickass story to get on there, and I’m sure we’ll be getting a lot of them.

Finally, The Mother Media is working hard on giving bloggers out there a chance to be involved in the blogosphere, or even land a blogging/writing job. She’s already helped others land their own blogging jobs. So keep your eyes open for updates.
